VENTILATING THE HOUSE 24 hours a day!
If your house is fully insulated, only in the evening a few hours and after showering half an hour.
You may suffer from moisture in the house. Many people think that the moisture problem comes from outside. In practice, the moisture often comes from the inside. The most common moisture is “living moisture”. This is caused by people, pets, cooking, drying the laundry, the dishwasher, etc. This can cause 10 – 15 litres of water vapour in your home.
The solution to most moisture problems is ventilation.
Ventilation should be done every day and extra when a lot of moisture is released.
The best way to ventilate is to open windows opposite each other, where possible. Many people think that it is enough to open a window for a few hours. Ventilation should preferably be done 24 hours a day.
Ventilation is not the same as half an hour of airing.
Why 24 hours a day?
That way moisture, mold and dust mites have less chance.
Moreover, this way you save on heating costs, no matter how strange that might sound at first glance.
If the indoor air is too humid, this leads to an unpleasant feeling of cold, which will cause you to turn up your heating. Heating a house with a humid indoor climate costs more energy than heating a house that is dry indoors. So if you ventilate continuously, you will end up heating less.
The window(s) does not have to be completely open. If you do not have ventilation grids, you can leave a (folding) window ajar. A mechanical ventilation system must always be switched on. After showering you should ventilate for a few hours.
